Hi Quantum Formalists,
As machine learning (ML) continues to evolve, a strong foundation in mathematical concepts, particularly in Linear Algebra, becomes increasingly essential. While many ML practitioners are proficient in the computational aspects of Linear Algebra—such as matrix operations and vector computations—there is often discomfort or difficulty when it comes to understanding and constructing mathematical proofs in this area.
At QF, we have direct insight into this issue through our observations of how students in our courses approach writing proofs. This experience prompted us to start providing general feedback to participants in our ongoing free 'Abstract Mathematics 101 Bootcamp.' You can view the feedback we've provided so far here.
Our direct insight has led us to consider creating a survey to a broader audience to determine whether this challenge is prevalent across the wider ML community. We would greatly value your insights if you're an ML practitioner or your help in sharing the survey with ML practitioners in your network. By participating, you will assist us in assessing the extent of this issue among ML practitioners in the industry. Furthermore, we plan to share the results and our recommendations publicly.
Google Forms survey: https://forms.gle/QMsDDXJypjyWoxCH8. It takes less than 5 minutes!
To show our appreciation, we're offering a 70% discount on our upcoming 'Advanced Linear Algebra for ML' bootcamp to the first 30 people who complete the survey.
Heads up: We’re planning a free, four-lecture series on introductory proof writing, starting in the middle of September for the QF community. Complete the survey to gain priority access to the live lectures. Stay tuned for more updates!
Thank you in advance for helping spread the word about this important survey on the mathematical skills gap!
Many thanks,
Bambordé
