In 2025, weโre proud to introduce a new journey: "Quantum Formalism โ Short Stories of Great Women in Mathematics." Every week, our mini-magazine will highlight the incredible, courageous women whose work forever changed the field.
From Hypatia of Alexandria, a trailblazing philosopher of antiquity, to Maryam Mirzakhani, a luminary in pure mathematics and the first woman to receive the prestigious Fields Medalโweโll celebrate the minds that defied the odds and redefined whatโs possible.
To launch this ''petite'' bold series, we begin with Hypatia of Alexandria (c. 360โ415 CE) One of the few figures in early history who stand out with contemporary relevance, her legacy echoing powerfully into the present. A brilliant philosopher and a symbol of early feminism, her story explores the timeless battles for knowledge, the delicate dance between science and faith, and the relentless pursuit of gender equality.
In the tempestuous streets of Alexandria, amid political and religious upheaval, her luminous mind was tragically extinguished in March 415 by a furious mob.
