Hello Quantum Formalists,
Lecture 8 has now been rescheduled for this coming Friday, July 10. The registration is open via https://crowdcast.io/c/group-theory-lecture-08. We'll be covering topics such as; finite fields (aka Galois fields), the primitive root theorem, safe prime numbers, discrete logarithms, and the discrete logarithm problem (DLP).
If we have time, we'll cover the formal mathematical definition of 'symmetric key cryptography' before moving to the Diffie-Hellman key exchange protocol. Else, we'll have an extra session to cover all this!
Also, please make sure you feel comfortable with the abstract notion of a cyclic group that we covered in the previous sessions before turning up for lecture 8!
Group Theory Crash Course: If you missed any live sessions, a YouTube playlist is available with the recordings https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6N_Y7ao_aHuOMgD3T_dzSgM5E2-VhhbT.
